Rev. Melinda Welton-Mitchell (Mindi) came to serve as Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Framingham in April 2006. Pastor Mindi was born in Oregon, raised in Alaska and came to Massachusetts to study at Andover Newton Theological School. She comes from a long line of American Baptist ministers, 5 generations on her mother’s side, and her aunt on her father’s side. Before accepting the call to First Baptist Framingham, Pastor Mindi served at First Baptist Church in Newton for 4 years as the Associate Minister for Education. Recently Pastor Mindi served on the Commission for Ordained Ministry for TABCOM (The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts), as well as on the Samuel Stillman Association Board. Before coming to Framingham, she served on the board of Boston-Cambridge Ministry in Higher Education, as well as the president of Interfaith AIDS Ministry in the Greater Boston area. She is married to the Rev. J.C. Mitchell, an ordained Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), who currently serves as the Program Coordinator at Carter Memorial United Methodist Church in Needham. They celebrated the birth of their first child, their son A.J. in July, and have a 12-year-old boxer/terrier mix named Jabber. Pastor Mindi enjoys reading, writing, playing guitar, and spending time in the outdoors. |
